CBS Cares PSAs Featuring Emmy Award Winning Actor Eric Braeden To Be Broadcast Monday, July 17 and Tuesday, July 18
The Number One Daytime Drama THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS will feature a story promoting epilepsy awareness when longtime character Victor Newman is diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy in an episode to be broadcast Monday, July 17 on the CBS Television Network. Emmy Award-winning actor Eric Braeden, who has portrayed Victor Newman for 26 years, will record CBS Cares PSAs in cooperation with the Epilepsy Foundation, which will be broadcast Monday, July 17 and Tuesday, July 18 immediately following the episodes. The televised messages will give more information about epilepsy as well as a web address and telephone number to help viewers cope with the many issues that come with the condition.
Victor Newman's family and friends have noticed changes in his behavior since he and his wife were carjacked several months ago. As the once ruthless businessman turned over control of his company to his children and spent his time charming his wife with dance lessons, buying a new puppy and doting on his grandchildren, people chalked up his behavior to a new appreciation for life. But when blackouts and hallucinations are diagnosed as temporal lobe seizures, his family realizes that what they thought was a new and improved Victor is actually a man with an electrical disturbance in his brain due to an undiagnosed head injury sustained in the carjacking.
Epilepsy is the most common neurological condition in children and the third most common in adults after Alzheimer's and stroke. Some three million people in the U.S. have some form of epilepsy, and 200,000 new cases are diagnosed each year. In about 70 percent of cases there is no known cause. Of the remaining 30 percent, some of the most frequent causes include brain tumor, stroke and head trauma.
"CBS is proud to be able to use this forum to raise awareness about epilepsy, and as the story unfolds, viewers will have the opportunity to not only see how Victor himself deals with his diagnosis, but how his family reacts as well," said Barbara Bloom, Senior Vice President, Daytime Programs, CBS. "We are fortunate to have an actor of Eric Braeden's caliber to play out these events, and we hope our audience will find them remarkable."
"For many people with epilepsy the biggest problem is not the disorder itself," explained Eric Hargis, president of the Epilepsy Foundation, "but society's attitude toward people with the condition. The facts are, however, that most people with epilepsy can lead successful, seizure-free lives with appropriate treatment and medication. We're extremely pleased with CBS's decision to partner with us to help bring epilepsy out of the shadows by associating the condition with one of the network's most renowned programs and famed actors."

LAURALEE BELL (CHRISTINE BLAIR) OUT!

Lauralee Bell has been very happy working in the family business.
For years she has played attorney Christine Blair on "The Young and
the Restless," the CBS daytime drama created by her late father,
William Bell, and her mother, Lee Phillip Bell.
But now she has stepped out from "under the Bell."
"I love `The Young and the Restless' with all my heart, but it's a
personal thing for me now to be like, `OK, I'm going to go out there
and see what I can do.' If I get something great, and even if I
don't, that's OK, but I have to test myself," she said.
Bell had just requested to be written out of her day job when she
was offered the lead in the Lifetime movie "Past Sins."
She plays Donna Erickson, a limelight-seeking attorney whose regular-
mom client might have committed a terrorist act long ago when she
was a 60's radical.
The legal thriller airs at 5 p.m. Sunday, with repeat airings at 9
p.m. July 17 and 7 p.m. Aug. 17.
Michael Jacobs, the executive producer of "Past Sins," praises
Bell's "very natural" acting skills and the element of compassion
she brought to the strong character.
Bell had a slight hesitation about accepting the role because she
would again be playing an attorney. But she quickly realized this
woman was very unlike "Y&R's" Christine Blair, who is "only driven
by goodness and sweetness."
The movie was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia.
"Just getting out of the studio and being able to do scenes where I
am walking down the street" was a major change from the stage-bound
routine of daily soap production, Bell said.
The twice-divorced Christine might be gone from "Y&R" for now, but
possibly not forever since there's been no definitive explanation
for her absence.

Car crash reveals who 'Restless' dad may be

Sharon and Phyllis get into a car accident today on "The Young and the Restless," leading to the revelation Monday that Phyllis is pregnant ... perhaps by Sharon's husband.
"Phyllis didn't bother to get proper directions, so they are lost in the middle of farmland," says Sharon Case (Sharon) of the crash. "Sharon says, 'You've gotten us lost, Phyllis,' and she says, 'Why don't we just pull over and ask for help?' Sharon says, 'Who are we going to ask? A cow?'"
The argument escalates and "Sharon reaches over to grab the map, drives off the road and hits a tree," says Case.
Both women seem okay, at first.
"Sharon is fine, and she assumes Phyllis is too, but Phyllis says there is something wrong," says Case. "Sharon drags it out of her - she's pregnant."
Since Sharon knows about the affair between Phyllis and Sharon's husband, Nick, it's not a big leap to who the father is.
"Sharon instantly assumes that it's bad news - it's Nick's baby - so she thinks about it for several beats and then decides to walk down the road in the dark to find help," says Case. "But she gives Phyllis a look that says, 'I could kill you.'"
She may not have to.
"The fun part of that episode is that she leaves Phyllis in the car with a dirty look and you wonder if she's going to get help or just leave her there," says Case with a laugh. "The next episode, Phyllis is in the emergency room. Sharon calls Nick to tell him they are there - and that she knows Phyllis is pregnant."
Sharon has time to think about that while waiting for her husband.
Says Case: "She's just devastated that Nick has been keeping another secret from her while he's been trying to repair their marriage after the affair, saying, 'I'll never lie to you again. I love you.' All the while he's been saying this, he's been keeping this big secret."
Indeed, Nick has already taken a DNA test to see if the baby is his, since Phyllis also slept with Jack around the same time. (The results come in a few weeks.) And if it is?
"Well, I already know the answer to that because I taped it already," admits Case. "I would assume that would be the end for her. She's not going to stick around for that after everything else she's already dealt with."
Meaning the loss last year of her own daughter, Cassie.
"Sharon says to Nick in the hospital, 'When Cassie said she knew the two of us would have a girl one day, this is not what she had in mind,'" notes Case wryly.

"Victor says, 'Nothing is wrong with me. I'm fine. Everything is cool. Why is everyone so upset?'" says Eric Braeden, who plays Victor. "Then, of course, he collapses."
Jack is there to catch him. Viewers know that Victor has been increasingly irrational since he battled the criminal who tried to carjack his wife, Nikki.
"Head trauma is very difficult to diagnose," says Braeden. "Whatever happened to Victor has made him more passive. He's forgiving. He's tired of it all. That can be the effect of what he is suffering from. Remember: He delivered hard head butts to that man three times in a row."
And refused medical treatment to tend to Nikki.
"Precisely," says Braeden.
Nikki smells something wrong when she walks in on her ex-husband, Jack, and current husband, Victor, playing together with a puppy. Victor pooh-poohs her concerns, but when his memory starts to fail, he turns to Jack again, for help hiding it.
Then, he goes and cuts more paper snowflakes.
"In this state, he remembers what he used to do as a kid in the orphanage," says Braeden. "He's almost childlike. He remembers the few good times in the orphanage when he was taught by a very kind teacher. He's at peace. He's almost in a blissful state, and no one knows why."
Jack may not know what's wrong with Victor, but he sure plans to take advantage of it.
"More and more, Jack is covering for him," says Braeden. "So [Victor] signs over his shares. He's in a very forgiving mood. It's almost like being born again, as if he has had a spiritual awakening."
But sooner or later Victor is going to wake up.
"I love this story, and I am having a hell of a time," says Braeden, "but sometimes he is just so sickeningly sweet. I can't stand that syrupy stuff, to be honest with you. But it's temporary - trust me!"
Indeed, Jack rushes the paperwork through before Victor changes his mind.
"It's not only what Jack is doing, it's what Brad Carlton is doing, too," says Braeden. "Victor is one of the brightest guys around. He has always suspected Brad Carlton of being up to no good. Brad took advantage of Victor's daughter and his daughter-in-law. I hope they make an issue of that."
By the end of next week, someone else will find his snowflake collection and figure out that something is very wrong with Victor. And they will make an issue of it.

Mógłby mi ktoś streścić losy Victorii Newman. W odcinkach emitowanych u nas była żoną Cole,a. Pamiętam że były podejrzenia, odnośnie ich rodzeństwa, ale okazało się że jednak nie są. Czytałam tez gdzieś że później była związana z Neilem i ten wątek bardzo poruszłył fanów serialu. Jeśli ktoś mógłby, to bardzo proszę o opisanie jej perypetii od tego momentu jak została żoną Cole,a.
